Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the primary modality of traditional Chinese medicine. It treats a wide range of health conditions and is practiced by inserting very thin, pre-packaged and sterilized disposable needles into specific points on the body. It is safe, effective, and a drug-free option for many non-emergency conditions.

Acupuncture stimulates your body’s own healing mechanisms—stimulating blood flow, tissue repair, and helping to release natural pain killers.

  • Respiratory issues, like asthma, allergies, and colds

  • Digestive issues, like heartburn, diarrhea, and nausea

  • Reproductive issues, like infertility, menopausal symptoms, and menstrual cramps

  • Immune function, like recurring infections and the side effects of some cancer treatments

  • Stress + Fatigue, depression, anxiety, and insomnia

Herbal Formulas

Herbal formulas might be recommended once we’ve worked together for a bit to have a clear understanding of your pattern of imbalance.  These formulas are personalized to you and vary in price. If recommended for you, the cost will be discussed prior to prescribing.

Cupping

Cupping relieves pain and muscle soreness through suction. This happens because the skin layer gets pulled into the cup, pulling on the fascia that connects the skin to the muscle below. Think of it as the opposite of a massage which pushes down on the muscle. Instead cupping creates the space for more free movement.

Moxabustion

Moxabustion, commonly referred to as moxa, is a way of adding heat or energy to an acupuncture point. Moxa uses the plant mugwort refined into a sponge-like consistency.  Moxa can be rolled into a stick and waved above the acupuncture point, rolled into a ball and placed on the end of an acupuncture needle or rolled into a small piece resembling a rice grain and placed directly on the skin.

Gua Sha

Gua sha is a form of gently scraping the skin. This process starts physiological healing responses that can lead to increased relieving tension and pain.  Gua sha can lead to bruising.

Rates

Cupping, Moxabustion and Gua Sha are used  in conjunction with the acupuncture treatment, not individually. If we feel as though you would benefit from one of these, the cost is included in the acupuncture treatment fees.
